The Genesis
Barrio Central was born in Zurich, where twelve musicians from eight different countries came together through their deep love for salsa music. Each of us has been playing for many years — in bands, orchestras and projects across Europe and beyond. Zurich became the meeting point where experience, cultures and rhythms merged into one powerful collective.
What unites us is more than music: it is the desire to bring authentic, high-energy salsa to the stage — music that connects people across cultures and generations.
The Sound
Barrio Central is a 12-piece salsa orchestra, delivering the full force of classic Salsa Dura.
Our lineup combines:

Bass and piano as the driving rhythmic and harmonic foundation

Three lead and coro singers, bringing power, soul and call-and-response energy

Three percussionists (congas, timbales, bongó) creating the essential Afro-Caribbean groove

A four-piece horn section: two trumpets, trombone and baritone saxophone — bold, tight and explosive
